Bellrichard, Douglas Howard of Santa Fe, New Mexico died March 4, 2018 after a brief battle with a very aggressive cancer. Born in Austin, Minnesota on November 18, 1952, he was the youngest child of Howard "Toots" Bellrichard and Gertrude Wagner. Doug was a graduate of The University of Minnesota with degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education. After an early stint as a junior high school music director, Doug switched careers and worked as a computer programmer for Control Data Corporation. Later he worked for The St. Paul Companies and ended his career in the actuarial support group at The Travelers Companies. Doug retired to Santa Fe in 2011 where he was involved with community orchestra, the master gardeners program, and as a volunteer and donor for The Santa Fe Opera. His passions were his four feline companions, gardening, music, and feeding wild birds. Doug is survived by his best friend, life partner, and spouse of 43 years, Ian K. Ritchie; his sisters Pam Leclair (Jack) and Pat Berczyk (Bryan); brother Terry Bellrichard (Cheryl); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Donations in Doug's name may be made to The Santa Fe Opera (santafeopera.org/ donate/individual-gifts).
