Yet another blizzard will bear down on the Plains this weekend. The snowstorm will not batter the flood-ravaged northern Plains. The central Plains, including Denver, will instead bear the brunt of the blizzard.

The fierce storm will be fueled by two distinctly different air masses and a strong jet stream. These three ingredients will all come together over the Plains today. However, not until early Saturday will the intense blizzard take shape.

Snow will begin falling over the central High Plains tonight. Conditions will deteriorate early Saturday as winds turn strong. Howling winds will severely blow and drift the snow. Travel will become nearly impossible.

Officials will likely be forced to close interstates 25, 70, 76 and 80.

Cancellations are almost certain at airports.

The dangerous blizzard conditions will spread eastward into southeastern South Dakota and central Nebraska Saturday night.
