Letter of the day: State should change rules, allow pets at camper cabins

A Feb. 28 Travel story ("Into the wild") on state-operated camper cabins reminds me again of the pet problem. The article states that the rules prohibit pets. Our golden retriever is a family member and our best friend. He is better trained, more friendly and less harmful than a lot of children we meet. What great fun it would be to take him to our state parks, where he is allowed in our tent, and rent a winter camper cabin. I would gladly pay an extra $5 cleaning fee. Outdoor people and their pets deserve better service from our state. ED WHITMAN, PLYMOUTH
