Priority, if elected: An elected official's time and the voter's money should be focused on the priorities of residents. The issues I hear about are keeping property taxes low, improving public safety and creating jobs. These are my priorities. I also hear concern about education. The mayor cannot abdicate responsibility for our city's children. I will assign a liaison dedicated to the school district to increase communication. The most important thing the city can do to help our children is to ensure that they are ready to learn. This means parents need jobs and stable housing and neighborhoods need to be safe.

Ideas for job, population growth: Encourage density and development -- particularly in transit corridors -- and provide incentives. Develop small business revolving loan fund. Create commission to market our city to industry.

Ideas to reduce crime: Implement zero-tolerance misdemeanor enforcement program. Increase community-oriented policing strategies and mobile beats. Re-establish Police Civilian Review Board. Expand monitoring technology in high crime neighborhoods.

Ideas to lower property taxes: Formalize city auditor position as a department head. Grow tax base by encouraging development and job creation. Prune duplicated services. Provide basics services efficiently.

Did you support or oppose the Minnesota Vikings stadium package, approved by the city in May 2012? Support, BUT I believe we watch the deal closely. The revenue from Seat Licenses should not substitute for the Wilfs contribution.

Should the city build a $200 million streetcar line along Nicollet and Central Avenues? Yes.

Should the mayor be allowed to appoint some school board members? No.
