Hail, Caesar!

The "Apes" reboot reaches a breathtaking climax in "War for the Planet of the Apes," in which a "simian flu" has decimated the human population while boosting the intelligence of apes. Woody Harrelson channels "Apocalypse Now" as a merciless, messianic commander confronted by ape leader Caesar (the stunning Andy Serkis), a bitter survivor who finds that revenge comes at a steep price. If reviving oldies has become Hollywood's prime directive, this smart, confident trilogy is the way to do it.
