For some, a crash could mean business

Woman involved in fender-bender gets unexpected offers from chiropractors and a lawyer

August 27, 2012 at 10:39PM

One of Whistleblower's coworkers had a traffic accident two weeks ago that damaged only her car. But last week she got five letters from chiropractors and one from a lawyer, professing concern for her health and offering free services. They likely got her address from a police accident report, a public record. My coworker called the letters "creepy." She hadn't even told her mother about the accident. One chiropractor congratulated the woman on winning a "massage and $480 wellness certificate." Another offered a 60-minute massage and said that "as a leading health care provider [she is] notified of any accidents that may have resulted in trauma and injury." The lawyer said he'd work on a contingency basis. What offers have you received after a crash?
