No sorry this isn't a movie review of the new Tina Fey/Steve Carrell movie, Date Night.

I'm just excited because, Peter and I are actually going out on a date night.

Finally.

I've been a big promoter of how important it is to get out of the house with your spouse. But I haven't been practicing what I preach. We haven't had a night alone since early NOVEMBER.

I was happy to open the paper this morning and see this great story by Bill Ward, Married, with dates. It talks about the importance of some quality one on one time to just talk. I can't wait.

We haven't gone out in a long time partly due to our babysitter issues and lack thereof and partly due to hibernation. We were just feeling "eh, we'd rather just pile on the couch with our kids and hang out."

But spring has sprung and it's time to get out and go out!

Our daycare provider will do overnights from time to time and we have one coming up! I've had this weekend circled in red on the calendar for a looooong time. It's been our light at the end of the tunnel. The night we get to go out and know the kids are in good hands.

Not only do we have one date night scheduled in the near future, we have TWO. Our next one in 3 weeks.Of all people, to see for our date night, we're going to the Marriage Ref. Tom Papa, will be at Acme Comedy Club in May. We've never gone to a stand up show, and thought that would be fun to go out and laugh.

If you've ever seen Tom's standup routine - he's pretty darn funny. He's a new parent too and we found ourselves laughing pretty much the entire way through this and relating to him in this bit I found on YouTube.

So the date night plans are secured for date # 2 but we don't have solid plans for date #1. Now the pressure is on - where to go what to do. I have a fabulous Groupon to a great restaurant that has been burning a hole in my pocket for just such a date night.

But we also want to do something - an activity together - maybe it will just be a walk around a lake.

Any fun ideas? Share your best date night.
