Coldest So Far on the Way

December 31, 2009 at 8:25PM

Brutal is the best word for this stuff. It's simply going to be awful outdoors.Across the northern Plains and Midwest Friday, temperatures will remain wellbelow freezing all day, and the wind will make it feel 15 to 20 degrees colder.

At night it will go to 35 below zero in northern Minnesota. That's nasty! The arctic air mass will blast into the Eastern part of the country Fridaynight and Saturday, bringing the coldest weather so far this season. In themid-Appalachians Saturday, it will never get out of the low 20s, and thecoastal plain from Washington to New York will stay below freezing. And the45-mile-per-hour winds expected Saturday won't make it feel any better.
