Leonard Maltin has been recommending movies since he published his own fanzine at age 15. Today, he's the resident expert on the Hubbard-owned cable channel Reelz, home for his favorite project, "Secret's Out," a weekly series that spotlights hidden gems. He recently touted "Frozen River."

"It grabs you from the first frame, the first shot, the closeup of this haggard-looking woman dragging on a cigarette [Oscar nominee Melissa Leo]. You look at her face and it's arresting. You say, 'Wow, what is this about? I want to know about this person.' It drags you right into a story you've never seen with characters you've never seen. It's one of the best films of 2008."
