In her previous role as Travel editor, she was twice named Travel Journalist of the Year by the Society of American Travel Writers. She previously worked at Bon Appetit, Cooking Light and National Geographic magazines. She is also the author of "State of Wonder," a book that celebrates Minnesota and derives from a series that first appeared in Travel.

Wheeler has also covered the full spectrum of the local music scene, having toured with the Minnesota Orchestra and Trampled By Turtles. A St. Paul native, he attended the University of Minnesota and worked for student newspaper, the Minnesota Daily while there. On weekends while in college he worked for the Star and Tribune as a lab technician in the newspaper's darkroom. After four and a half years as a staff photographer and picture editor at the Hartford (CT) Courant, Wheeler returned to his home state and settled in Minneapolis. He has two teenage children.

Wieffering's journalism career began in Massachusetts, where he covered city government on Cape Cod. His career as a business writer or editor in Minnesota spanned the stock market boom of the '80s, the technology bubble of the '90s, the housing bubble of the '00s, and the Great Recession. Wieffering directed the Star Tribune's metro news coverage for five years before moving into his current role. He and his wife, Ruth, live in St. Paul.

Wollemann was born in Milwaukee, have lived all over the country and even in Bulgaria for four years while teaching journalism at the American University in Bulgaria. After a short stay in Chicago (and a cross-country bike ride), Wollemann and his wife returned to Minnesota in 2017 and he returned to the Star Tribune to work as a news copy editor and "slot" (final read) editor.
