'Kara/Kara-Empty/Shell'

Wednesday-Friday: This month, Butoh performer Gadu took the stage at the Southern Theater covered in white body makeup and surrounded by a plastic bag full of balloons, as part of an evening of work presented by four choreographers. This week, you can expect something even more experimental as Gadu acts as a guide for the audience to be a part of the theater experience. In "Kara/Kara-Empty/Shell," Gadu collaborates with performer and visual artist Manasari Kawahara in a show that will rely on audience participation. Not only will you help create a space for the performers, but you'll also shape the point of view and make sound for the show as well. (7:30 p.m. Sept. 30-Oct. 2. $24. Southern Theater, 1420 Washington Av. S., Mpls. 612-340-0155, southerntheater.org.)

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
