Wagner SprayTech Corp. to expand in Plymouth

July 26, 2016 at 12:36AM

Wagner SprayTech Corp. is undertaking an $8.4 million expansion of its Plymouth headquarters and factory that is expected to create 66 new jobs, state officials said Monday. Construction will begin in the spring and should be completed by fall 2018.

The state has approved a $684,500 rebate grant for the project under its Minnesota Job Creation Fund. The fund, administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), is not expected to dispense grant money until Wagner completes construction and has met first-year hiring promises.

Wagner makes paint sprayers, applicators and decorating products for consumer and contractor customers worldwide.

Earlier this year, Wagner announced it is building a $15 million, 220,000-square-foot distribution center in Otsego with the help of a $180,000 Job Creation Fund grant.

DEED Commissioner Shawntera Hardy hailed the latest addition in Plymouth as good news for Minnesota.

"We're excited about this expansion and look forward to their long-term success," she said in a statement. "This is another good example of how the Job Creation Fund helps Minnesota companies grow and add valuable new jobs to our communities."

Wagner SprayTech Corp. is a subsidiary of Wagner Holding Inc. and employs more than 230 people in Minnesota. It has been in Minnesota since 1971.
