News reports this week have highlighted a quietly-added feature to Facebook: the ability to add a family member to your profile under the heading "Expected: child." The feature has been available since December. Of course, parents have long been using the social media site in many ways to announce pregnancies.
I've read cryptic posts from friends about "being late" or not being able to drink alcohol anymore, followed by a bazillion replies of people surprised by the baby news. And I've seen ultrasound images used as profile pictures, complete with babies providing frequent status updates about everyday life in the womb.
