A massive severe weather outbreak occurred on the 26th of April, 1991,bringing 58 killer tornadoes from Clearwater to Wichita to Cassoday, Kan.McConnell AFB was devastated, and mobile homes were destroyed in Andover. Thetornado that hit Andover was on the ground for 70 miles and killed 13 people.
Altogether the storms and tornadoes killed 24 people and injured hundreds ofothers. A news camera was caught under a bride overpass by another tornadoalong the Kansas turnpike. The crew filmed the tornado as it passed almostoverhead. The twister threw a car and a trailer truck off the road.
