Damp weather will linger in the mid-Atlantic today as a system presses eastward offshore. Meanwhile, high pressure will build into the Southeast, clearing the clouds from the sky and bringing pleasant conditions. This follows a day featuring violent thunderstorms from North Carolina into the Florida Panhandle.

Conditions will remain nice and dry, as well as turning warmer in the Southeast over the next few days. By Friday, high temperatures will inch toward the 70-degree mark as far north as the Ohio River Valley and the Delmarva Peninsula. However, another round of thunderstorms will get started in the Mississippi Valley early this weekend.
