Urban herbs workshop

Some plants that are considered weeds have useful healing properties. And some flowers used as landscaping can do double duty as healthful herbs. Maria Wesserle, founder of Four Season Foraging, will discuss the medicinal benefits of common plants and how to identify them at 1 p.m. June 30. $15-$35. Wildcrafting

Some of the best medicines can be found in the wild or even your own backyard. Explore the medicinal properties of native plants with the Three Rivers Park District. Garden tour

Get an intimate tour of nine gardens during the Hennepin County Master Gardener Learning Garden Tour. Spread across south Minneapolis and Richfield, the tour includes a community garden, as well as home gardens designed and tended by Master Gardeners. There will be on-site gardening advice and demonstrations by trained gardeners. The self-guided tour includes food trucks at select stops. Also along the way, a book nook with a variety of literature for kids and adults, and a garden shed offering useful gardening accessories. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14. $15-$20. hennepinmastergardeners.org.

Blend-worthy design

The Blend Awards are calling for entries. The awards recognize builders, designers and architects whose projects respect existing neighborhood design aesthetics. Eligible projects must be within the boundaries of Minneapolis and St. Paul and have been completed since July 1, 2013. Remodels, additions, landscape projects and new buildings are all eligible.
