Here’s your next heart-tugging female-singer biopic: if you thought x’s take on Patsy Cline was too chipper, or the Edith Piaf story too upbeat, get in line for the story of Anita O’Day. Who? Oh, only one of the most swinging singers of the big band era, working with Krupa and Kenton. She died in ’07 at the age of 87, which surprised many who never thought she’d make it that long; she was jailed for heroin, among other things, and had a rather public battle with addiction.
