FIFTH TIME AT NO. 5

The Timberwolves stayed at No. 5 in Tuesday's NBA draft lottery. If they don't trade the pick, it will mark the fifth time the team has drafted fifth. Here's how the first four went:

1993: Isaiah Rider

• Played three years with Wolves before team grew weary of his mercurial attitude and off-court issues.

1995: Kevin Garnett

• Teenager became the best player in franchise history.

1996: Ray Allen (traded to Milwaukee for Stephon Marbury)

• Talented guard ultimately didn't want to be Garnett's sidekick and forced himself out of town.

2009: Ricky Rubio

• A talented playmaker with an uncertain shot, Rubio helped the Wolves finish 2015-16 season with an offensive flourish.

Etc.

A number of NBA greats have gone at No. 5, including Garnett, Charles Barkley (1984), Scottie Pippen (1987), Mitch Richmond (1988), Vince Carter (1998), Dwyane Wade (2003) and DeMarcus Cousins (2010)
