Shooting guards on the board

As Wolves fans well know, their team needs a shooting guard bigger than 6-1 Luke Ridnour. Here's this year's top draft class at that position, one of whom might be claimed with the 18th overall pick if the Wolves don't trade it for a veteran scorer.

BRADLEY BEAL, Florida, 6-5 freshman, age 18

A possible top-three pick, the only way the Wolves get a shot at this sweet shooter who invites Ray Allen comparisons is if they could trade Derrick Williams and the 18th pick for the No. 2 pick. Don't hold your breath.

DION WAITERS, Syracuse, 6-4 sophomore, age 20

Undersized but powerful scorer is rising fast up the draft boards. He could now go top 10, perhaps No. 7 to Golden State or No. 8 to Toronto.

JEREMY LAMB, Connecticut, 6-5 sophomore, age 20

Long and athletic -- don't tell David Kahn that! -- he's a silky scorer who needs to answer questions about his strength and drive.

AUSTIN RIVERS, Duke, 6-5 freshman, age 19

Another player believed to be rising up boards because of his pedigree and predraft interviews that have assured teams he is more fiery competitor than entitled brat.

TERRENCE ROSS, Washington, 6-7 sophomore, age 21

He's just the kind of player the Wolves seek -- a swingman who can shoot it and get his own shot -- but will he still be there at No. 18?

WILL BARTON, Memphis, 6-6 sophomore, age 21

Underrated, streaky scorer with great shooting range and long arms who is projected as a late first-round pick.

DORON LAMB, Kentucky, 6-5 sophomore, age 20

Projected as a late first- or early second-round pick. The Wolves need shooters to put beside Ricky Rubio, and this guy can shoot it. He probably was a bit overlooked on a Wildcats team with possibly five first-rounders on it, including two top-five picks.
