CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Nicknamed the "Boogeyman," Boogaard was considered one of the NHL's most feared enforcers in his six-year NHL career, five with the Wild (2005-06 through 2009-10) and one with the New York Rangers (2010-11). ... Amassed 589 penalty minutes and had 61 fights in his in his NHL career. ... Had 16 career points (three goals, 13 assists) in 277 career games.

2010-11: Limited to 22 games with the Rangers after signing a four-year, $6.5 million free-agent contract in the offseason. Suffered a concussion Dec. 9 during a fight with Ottawa's Matt Carkner and missed the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

July 2007: In a move that drew both cheers and jeers, Boogaard ran a fight camp for players ages 12 through 18 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

2006-07: In what ranks among the most famous scenes of his career, Boogaard imposingly jawed at the Anaheim bench and challenged Ducks players to fight late in a playoff game. The incident came after the Ducks' Brad May sucker-punched Wild defenseman Kim Johnsson.

2005-06: Played 58 games, amassed 158 penalty minutes and scored two goals in his rookie season.
