Vikings set to wrap-up minicamp

Posted by: under Vikings, Brad Childress, Adrian Peterson, Brad Childress, Brett Favre, Sage Rosenfels, Tarvaris Jackson, Vikings quarterbacks Updated: June 13, 2010 - 10:02 AM

I'll say this for the first two days of the Vikings minicamp, it certainly hasn't been boring.

On Friday, coach Brad Childress did not hide his displeasure with the fact Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson would be absent for all three days because he had made plans to attend the fourth annual "Adrian Peterson" Day on Saturday in Palestine, Texas. Among the points Childress wanted to get across was this: There have been three Adrian Peterson Days before this so this isn't exactly a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Saturday featured a surprise as quarterback Sage Rosenfels took only five snaps in 11-on-11 drills. Meanwhile, sixth-round pick Joe Webb got 21 snaps (14-for-21) in the two practices. This had to be considered a surprise considering this is the only offseason practices at which almost the entire team is present.

Keep in mind that if Brett Favre does decide to retire (I know, I know), Tarvaris Jackson will enter training camp as the No. 1 quarterback with an expectation (we thought) that Rosenfels would battle for the job. Perhaps that won't be the case.

We'll have plenty more on the minicamp after today's final practice so make sure to check back to the blog. Also you can follow me at
