Earlier today, we wrote about the monster ratings that the Vikings victory over the Packers did Monday night in the Twin Cities market. Well, turns out ESPN also did exceptionally well throughout the country with the telecast that featured Brett Favre's first game against his former employer.

Monday's game will go into the books as the highest-rated cable telecast of all-time among households and viewers. ESPN fired a 15.3 rating and had 15.1 million household impressions and 21.8 million viewers tuned in to watch Favre -- oh, and the Vikings and Packers played, too.

The previous mark for households impressions and viewers had been set by another ESPN Monday night telecast in September of 2008. The Cowboys-Eagles game had 12.95 million household tuned in and 18.6 million viewers.

In becoming the top-rated program in ESPN history, the Vikings-Packers passes the Bears-Vikings telecast on Dec. 6, 1987 (14.4 rating) and the Lions-Dolphins telecast on Christmas Day 1994 (14.2 rating).
