A few days ago we posted a blog on the fact Vikings defensive end Jared Allen ranked 80th in the countdown of the NFL Network's "Top 100: Players of 2011."
The NFL Network is keeping this list hush-hush for obvious reasons and so far we are only to player No. 71. We do know there is only one other Viking among the top 100, which was compiled after ballots from hundreds of NFL players were collected.
Obviously, that will be running back Adrian Peterson. So where might he rank? There are 10 running backs among the top 100 and so far only two have been named. Darren McFadden was No. 98 and Frank Gore was No. 94.
The last eight running backs will be revealed in the final six episodes and it sounds like many of the backs will be in the same ballpark. Odds certainly are good Peterson's name won't come up Sunday when Nos. 70-61 are announced starting at 7 p.m. on NFL Network.
