Here are three thoughts following the Twins' 3-2 in over Seattle on Saturday

MARINERS CHARITY: It was so nice of the Mariners to present the Twins with a few gifts on Saturday. They allowed the Twins to score two runs on wild pitches. How often does that happen? And why did closer Carson Smith throw so many sliders? He hits 95 on the gun. Why did they put the winning run on base in the ninth? And it sounds like Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon has had issues with this same umpiring crew in the past, but he slowed down the inning when he walked - walked - from the visitors dugout to first base to yell at Mike Muchlinski after getting tossed. Eddie Rosario stealing third was a great move against a team that probably forgot about him at second. The way the Twins' offense is going, they needed some breaks on Saturday and got them.

GIBSON STEADY: Kyle Gibson did not get the win on Saturday - Trevor May swooped in for another relief win - but he was able to keep the game at 2-1 while pitching out of a seventh inning with runners on second and third and no outs. According to the Twins, opponents are batting .180 off Gibson with runners in scoring position - and he was fourth in the AL entering the day. He got Mike Zunino to fly out to medium deep center field then got Ketel Marte and Kyle Seager to ground to second to get out of the jam.``I think it's just being comfortable in those situations and being a little bit more mature and being able to execute," Gibson said. ``Tonight, I understood the situation I was in and, obviously a fly ball there is not the result you want. To get it in on him and executive is being a little more comfortable and being able to understand the situation."

ROSARIO STEALING THIRD: Good call buy the Twins to have Eddie Rosario steal third in the ninth inning. The way Smith was bouncing sliders, it gave him something to think about with Rosario just 90 feet away.``It's not a normal situation to steal third with two outs, but given the situation and the heightened intensity of that inning, they weren't particularly paying a lot of attention to him," Molitor said. ``And you don't want to get thrown out there, the potential winning run, but he had thrown a couple wild pitches and it might change what he does if he got over there. Whether he thought about throwing a 3-1 slider to Suzuki, I don't know but I think with Rosario on third it forced his hand to throw that fastball. That's just speculation.''
