The Twins placed Justin Morneau on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left wrist following Tuesday night's postponement against the White Sox and will make a corresponding roster move Wednesday.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka could be activated from the DL on Wednesday after being re-evaluated by doctors in Minnesota. Nishioka has been out since April 7 with a broken left fibula.

Morneau will have his left wrist immobilized in a cast for 10 days with the goal of having him return soon after that.

"We're looking at this as a short-term event, but we will put him on the DL," said Twins General Manager Bill Smith.

Glen Perkins, who pitched two scoreless innings Tuesday for Class AAA Rochester, also could be activated from the DL on Wednesday after being re-evaluated. He's been out with a strained oblique muscle.

The Twins and White Sox will make up Tuesday's game later in the season, either in August or September, when the White Sox return to Target Field. They are scheduled to return Aug. 5-7 and Sept. 5-7.
