Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.
FORT MYERS, FLA. -- After today's 10-4 loss to the Cardinals, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire delivered some good news on the injury front.
Michael Cuddyer, who had a wart removed from his left foot last week, is almost healed, Gardenhire said.
And Delmon Young, who has been out with a turf toe injury, might be ready to play in Tuesday's B-game against the Pirates, Gardenhire said.
Joe Mauer took part in some fielding drills today at catcher. Mauer has yet to catch in the bullpen, but Gardenhire said, "Right now, he’s progressing nicely. That’s what they tell me."
Justin Morneau continues to go through full workouts but hasn't played in a game. Gardenhire said there is no timetable for when Mauer or Morneau will play again.
