Three players scored more than 20 points and backup center Jessie Edwards had a double-double as the Gophers women's basketball team outscored Detroit Mercy 111-91 on Saturday afternoon at Williams Arena before an announced crowd of 2,256.
Minnesota (5-3) broke a three-game losing streak.
Carlie Wagner led the Gophers with 31 points, one shy of her career high. Her last basket, a three-pointer, enabled Minnesota to reach 100 points for the second time this season.
Gadiva Hubbard added 26 points and Kenisha Bell 21 while Edwards had 15 points — on 6-for-7 shooting from the field and three free throws — and 12 rebounds. Minnesota outrebounded the Titans 59-29 and scored 38 second-chance points on 27 offensive rebounds.
Freshman reserve Anja Marinkovic led the Titans with 29 points; she was 7-for-11 on three-pointers.
The two teams combined to take 161 shots, 66 of them three-pointers.The Gophers, who shot 47.7 percent, led 56-38 at halftime. Detroit Mercy shot 48 percent.
