The top-ranked team in the country, South Carolina, escaped Minnesota's wintry mix looking worthy of its current lofty status.

South Carolina (12-0) ran off 16 unanswered points midway through the first half and cruised to its second easy victory in as many days on Sunday, 84-44 over Liberty in the Subway Classic at Williams Arena. The Gamecocks tied the school record for consecutive wins in a season.

The Gamecocks, just like they did the previous day, used a balanced attack to overwhelm Liberty. Freshman forward A'ja Wilson had 17 points, pacing five players in double figures.

"I'm very proud because their minds could have been any place besides trying to win a game here, but they focused in at the task at hand," coach Dawn Staley said.

Liberty faced the nation's No. 1 team for the first time since March 14, 1998.
