Madison, Wis. - Sophomore Dani Cameranesi scored two goals and had an assist as the Gophers defeated No. 1-rated Wisconsin 4-1 on Friday in WCHA women's hockey at the LaBahn Arena. It was Minnesota's 12th consecutive win over the Badgers.

With the score tied 1-1, Cameranesi put in the eventual game-winner at 9 minutes, 34 seconds of the opening period — just 70 seconds after Wisconsin's goal.

Milica McMillen scored on a power play with one second left in the opening period to put the Gophers ahead 3-1. And with 40 seconds to play in the middle period, Cameranesi scored her second goal of the game to give the No. 2 Gophers (4-0-1, 2-0-1 WCHA) a three-goal cushion.

The Badgers (6-1-0, 4-1-0) were off to their best start since the 2010-11 season. But Wisconsin's last victory in this series was Oct. 14, 2011 at the Kohl Center.

The Gophers took a 1-0 lead on Hannah Brandt's shorthanded goal in the seventh minute, but Wisconsin tied the score on Karley Sylvester's goal about 1½ minutes later.

Amanda Leveille, Minnesota's goalie, was sharp. She made 23 saves and helped hold the Badgers to 0-for-6 on the power play. Wisconsin was averaging five goals per game, first in the nation, to the Gophers' 4.75, second.
