Bethel's Cristina Masten, a senior forward from Fergus Falls, Minn., was named the MIAC player of the year on Wednesday in women's hockey. She led the conference in scoring with 20 goals and 35 points.

Tom Palkowski, whose St. Thomas team won the MIAC regular-season title, was named the league's coach of the year. St. Catherine senior Nicki Mosbeck, received the Sheila Brown Award, given for long-term contributions to a team and good sportsmanship.

Palkowski's Tommies (18-5-3) will play visiting Gustavus (17-7-2) at 2 p.m. Saturday in the championship game of the MIAC playoffs.

• Omaha junior Josh Archibald, a right wing from Brainerd, Minn., was selected the National College Hockey Conference player of the month for February. He led the NCA in scoring with 16 points and goals with 10. Archibald had three multiple goal games.

• North Dakota freshman Paul LaDue was named the NCHC rookie of the month for February. LaDue, of Grand Forks, N.D., was an NCAA-leading plus-14 in the month and had six points, including two goals.

• Century College sophomore righthander Eldon Evan was named one of the NJCAA pitchers of the week. He beat Southeastern 7-1, giving up five hits in eight innings.
