COLUMBUS, OHIO – Rachael Bona scored three goals — the first hat trick of her career — to lead the No. 1-ranked Gophers women's hockey team to a 9-2 WCHA victory over Ohio State on Saturday.

Dani Cameranesi and Maryanne Menefee each added two goals for the Gophers (18-1, 12-1 WCHA). Hannah Brandt had a goal and two assists, and Sarah Davis contributed three assists for the Gophers.

Bona and Menefee each scored in the first period as the Gophers built a 3-0 lead after one period. Bona's goal — at 12:24 — came just 22 seconds after Meghan Lorence had given the Gophers a 1-0 lead.

The Buckeyes (5-10-2, 2-9-2) pulled within 3-1 in the second period, but a short-handed goal by Cameranesi and Menefee's second goal gave the Gophers a 5-1 lead after two periods.

Bona's second goal — at 3:13 of the third period — gave the Gophers a 6-1 lead. Power-play goals by Cameranesi and Hannah Brandt, 84 seconds apart, gave the Gophers an 8-1 lead.
