Badgers hand Lake Superior State first loss

• WISCONSIN 8, LAKE SUPERIOR STATE 1: Nic Kerdiles scored twice as the host Badgers beat the Lakers on Saturday. Wisconsin outshot Lake Superior State (4-1-1) 44-22.

• OHIO STATE 4, MINNESOTA DULUTH 2: The Buckeyes took a 3-0 lead early in the second period and held on to beat visiting UMD.

• MICHIGAN 2, MICHIGAN TECH 1: Dennis Rix's unassisted goal at 7:55 of the third period for the Wolverines broke a 1-1 tie and gave them a sweep of the visiting Huskies.

• ST. CLOUD STATE 3, NORTH DAKOTA 1: Nic Dowd had one goal and one assist as the No. 9 Huskies swept No. 5 UND at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

• MINNESOTA STATE 4, BEMIDJI STATE 3: Teddy Blueger's empty-net goal with 10 seconds left proved to be the winner for the visiting Mavericks.

NEBRASKA OMAHA 3, DENVER 2 (OT): For the second night in a row, UNO went into overtime with the Pioneers in Denver and both games ended the same way. Josh Archibald of Brainerd ended each on goals, scoring at 1:34 of the extra period on Friday and 2:51 on Saturday. Jake Guentzel, the son of Gophers associate head coach Mike Guentzel, had assists on both winners. Archibald had six goals, Guentzel five assists.
NOTRE DAME 2, VERMONT 2: The No. 2-rated Irish, who play the Gophers next weekend in South Bend, Ind., won on Sam Herr's two third-period goals at 13:18 and 14:20.
