North Dakota State University officials confirmed Saturday that the school will be host to ESPN's Saturday morning football show, College GameDay, next weekend. It will be the fourth time the show has come from someplace other than the site of a major college.
The Bison are the defending Football Championship Subdivision champions and opened their season with a major upset of 2012 Big 12 champion Kansas State.
NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor told Jeff Kolpack of the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead: “It’s huge, probably the biggest thing that ever happened to Fargo and North Dakota State in terms of athletics. We’ve had championships and those things, but in terms of recognition … the exposure will be phenomenal.”
So far this season, GameDay has set up at Clemson, Michigan and Texas A&M.
Justin Swason, NDSU's director of marketing and promotions, told the Forum: “This show has been around for 21 years and seldom does it get to a campus like ours. To think where we were 10 years ago beating Montana, and now we’re hosting the biggest show in college football.”
The show airs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays. North Dakota State plays host to Delaware State at 2:30 p.m.
