The Huskers held the Big Ten's top scorer to 11 points.

LINCOLN, NEB. - The Nebraska women's basketball team, playing before a season-high crowd of 6,935 on Super Bowl Sunday, whipped the Gophers 80-56. It completed a season sweep for the Huskers, who also defeated the Gophers 84-63 in Minneapolis on Jan. 20.

"That might be the best we have played all over the floor today," Nebraska coach Connie Yori said. "We were good on defense, we won the boards and we attacked them really aggressively in transition. We hit shots and we had five in double figures, with everybody contributing. We played really, really well today, and it is exciting to see this time of year."

The Huskers held the Big Ten's leading scorer, Rachel Banham, to only 11 points on 5-for-13 shooting. Banham entered the game averaging 21.5 points per game, including 34.5 points in her past two games. It was her second-lowest scoring total of the year.

The Gophers trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half but rallied to cut the deficit to 38-30 at the break.

After the Gophers scored first in the second half, it was all Nebraska. The Cornhuskers went on a 40-18 run and led 78-50 with 3:26 to play.

Micaella Riche led the Gophers (14-9, 3-6 Big Ten) with 12 points and seven rebounds and had two blocks.

Jordan Hooper led the Huskers (16-6, 6-3) with 27 points. Hooper, who hit 10 of 17 shots from the field, including three of seven three-pointers, produced her third consecutive game with 25 or more points for the Huskers. Sophomore guard Tear'a Laudermill tied her career high with 14 points off the bench, including three three-pointers, which helped put five Huskers in double figures.

The big difference in the game was turnovers. The Gophers committed 19 to only nine for the Cornhuskers.

Neither team shot particularly well, with the Gophers hitting 41 percent of their shots (24-for-58) while the Cornhuskers hit 45 percent (29-for-64). Nebraska had the edge in rebounding 37-36.
