Fan favorite Arnold Palmer will miss Saturday's Greats of Golf Challenge at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, citing fatigue.

The 85-year-old Palmer, one of golf's biggest names, has been a staple at the 3M Championship since the event began 23 years ago. He played in the tournament from 1994-2005 and has since appeared in an exhibition event drawing huge crowds at the course.

He appeared at St. Andrews for the British Open two weeks ago and the travel has taken its toll, 3M Championship director Hollis Cavner said.

The Greats of Golf event will go on as planned, with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player among the big draws that will tee off after the 3M Championship leaders.

Palmer was to appear Saturday as a ride-along captain with former LPGA stars Annika Sorenstam, Pat Bradley and Nancy Lopez.
