Bad flashback: 'With the sixth pick in the 2009 draft, the Wolves select...'

First of all, we love and loathe this ESPN clip from the NBA draft for the graphic: What it said about Jonny Flynn -- and what it said about the David Kahn-era Timberwolves, even if it was intended to be a critique of Jonny Flynn, the guard drafted instead of Stephen Curry.

"Must Improve: Decision Making."

Decision making? Sounds like something the Wolves will confront once again next week when they have the first pick in the NBA draft.

But we invite you to hone in on other highlights in this video.

**Yes, Golden State took Curry with the next pick. But watch for the "best available" player waiting to be selected, according to ESPN college basketball expert Jay Bilas.

**Listen for the former coach, who likes the pick "because Jonny Flynn is a guy who can score." The guy is a coach who ended up coaching Curry, until the coach got canned.

**The scene in the Wolves "war room" after the pick was announced.

**The analyst quote about Flynn being an "outstanding athlete" and the idea of teaming him with Ricky Rubio "is not such a bad thing." (That never happened, of course, because the Wolves traded Flynn to Houston to make room for Rubio when he joined the team.)

Yes, the Flynn pick was a bust. But remember, it's easy to be a genus in real time and an idiot afterward.

Apple Valley to Duke again? Gary Trent Jr. gets scholarship offer

Apple Valley guard Gary Trent Jr., the son of former NBA player Gary Trent, was offered a scholar Monday by Duke University. Trent is ranked among the top players in Minnesota's 2015-16 junior class and also received offers Monday from Oregon and Iowa, according to his Twitter feed.

Duke, of course, was the school that landed Apple Valley's Tyus Jones, who was named Most Outstanding Player in this year's NCAA Final Four and has decided to enter next week's NBA draft after one season with the Blue Devils.

Minnesota is also recruiting Trent, who was named MVP of the U16 Championships of the FIBA Americas tournament in Argentina over the weekend.

Trent is playing summer AAU basketball for the Howard Pulley Panthers, where he leads the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in scoring with a 22.1 point average.

His father played in the NBA for 10 seasons, including his last three with the Timberwolves. He retired after the 2004 season.

Trent told the Devils Den, a Duke sports blog, what it was like to grow up with a father who played pro basketball: "I've got a lot of great memories. Meeting great players like LeBron James and Yao Ming. I was scared of Yao Ming, actually. I was crying when I was meeting him and stuff because I wanted to meet him so bad because I was playing with him in a video game. When I got the chance I was scared. Just meeting a lot of players and still talking to those players and being in touch with those players [is great]."
