Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.
Budinger sustained the injury Saturday in Chicago, with six minutes left in the fourth quarter, when he got tangled in a scrum under the Wolves' net and twisted the knee.
The Yahoo.com report said that renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, and said the meniscus was completely repaired and that a full recovery is expected. Budinger is one of several injuries that have hit the Wolves, the latest being center Nikola Pekovic's sprained ankle Monday in Dallas.
