Doug Fister of the Tigers struck out nine consecutive batters Thursday afternoon, setting a new American League record (the MLB record is 10 by Tom Seaver).
And before you try to cheapen it by saying it was only against the Royals, consider: Kansas City this season has been the toughest team in all of MLB to strike out. (The Twins, you'll note from the link, are the second-toughest).
