A lot on the line

This is Jason Gonzalez back with you again tonight. I'll be handling the Lynx coverage today. Let me know if you have any questions: jason.gonzalez@startribune.com; Twitter: @JGonStrib. Thanks.

Another win could make for a big night at Target Center. With such a commanding lead in the conference standings, the Lynx have a chance to already claim their playoff spot. It would require a win combined with a Phoenix Mercury loss to get the job done and best last year's clinching date of Aug. 20.

There's not much standing in the way of the Lynx doing their part. Though a lot has happened since the two teams last met, it's the third time in four games the Lynx will face the conference's last-place Tulsa Shock. The Lynx final two victories before the Olympic break were against the 3-16 team.

With or without a win, Lindsay Whalen should make history tonight. The guard is only two assists shy of matching Katie Smith's franchise record of 496. Whalen dished out a game-high nine assists on Friday night.

An early exit from Friday's game appeared to be the only damage a rolled ankle will have on Lynx Seimone Augustus. The guard said she could have returned against Washington, which should mean she will be back in the lineup today. She looked fine in a picture tweeted Saturday of her smiling in a "Cold tub" after a workout. Her 20 points led the team on Friday.
