Kevin Noreen, who led Minnesota Transitions to the Class 1A championship this season, was named Mr. Basketball on Tuesday.

Noreen, a 6-10 forward, became the state's career leading scorer with 4,086 points. This season, he averaged 38.6 points, 16.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 3.9 steals and 3.2 blocked shots per game. He is planning to attend and play for Boston College next year.

The other Mr. Basketball finalists were Marshall Bjorklund of Sibley East, Trevor Gruis of Ellsworth, Dyami Starks of Duluth East and Jacob Thomas of Columbia Heights.

Cornerback Hill signs with Titans Veteran cornerback Tye Hill reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with Tennessee on Tuesday, a day after visiting the Vikings.

Hill spent Monday evening weighing his options and in the end decided his best opportunity was in Tennessee. The 15th overall pick in 2006 by St. Louis, Hill spent his first three seasons with the Rams before being traded to Atlanta for a seventh-round selection shortly before the 2009 season. He was released by Atlanta in the middle of this month. Hill has started 24 games and has five career interceptions.

• Virginia cornerback Chris Cook conducted a private workout for the Vikings, according to NFL sources. The National Football Post website reported Cook also has had private workouts with New England and Miami.
