Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune was named Minnesota sportswriter of the year by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Scoggins is a columnist and features writer who spent the final four months of 2013 as the Vikings beat writer.

Minnesota’s sportscaster of the year is Mike Grimm, the University of Minnesota sports play-by-play announcer on the Gophers Sports Network/Learfield.

The national sportswriter of the year is Sport Illustrated’s Peter King, and the broadcaster of the year is NBC hockey play-by-play man Mike Emrick.

Sportscaster Marv Albert and sportswriter Rick Reilly will be inducted into the NSSA Hall of Fame during the awards weekend June 7-9 in Salisbury, N.C.
