Where: Drake University in Des Moines
Why: The top three finishers in each event qualify for the world championships, which will be Aug. 10-18 in Moscow.
Team USA Minnesota entrants: Jamie Cheever (women's steeplechase), Gabriele Anderson (women's 1,500 meters), Heather Kampf (women's 800), Meghan Peyton (women's 10,000), McKenzie Melander (women's 10,000), Jon Peterson (men's 10,000).
Minnesota's 2012 Olympian updates: Melrose native Amanda Smock (women's triple jump) and Duluth native Kara Goucher (women's 10,000) are among favorites in their events.
