Target Center will be host to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's postseason tournament, beginning in 2014. The agreement between Target Center and the NCHC lasts five years.

The eight-team NCHC starts play in 2013-14.

The conference will play its semifinals and championship game at Target Center. Those games will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

The NCHC includes Colorado College, Denver, North Dakota, Minnesota Duluth, Nebraska Omaha and St. Cloud State, six teams moving over from the WCHA, and two teams moving from the CCHA -- Western Michigan and Miami-Ohio.

Etc. • The Timberwolves will have two homegrown players work out Tuesday: Jordan Taylor and Royce White. Taylor played at Benilde-St. Margaret's before starring at Wisconsin. White finished his high school years at Hopkins and signed with the Gophers before leaving for Iowa State after legal trouble. Others working out: Draymond Green of Michigan State, Drew Gordon of New Mexico, Reggie Hamilton of Oakland and Herb Pope of Seton Hall.

• Jon Townsend doubled in a run in the 11th inning, giving the St. Paul Saints a 7-6 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in Midway Stadium.
