Severe storms that hit southwestern China's Chongqing from Wednesday nightto Thursday morning have killed at least 29 people and injured at least 200more.The storms that moved through the area produced damaging wind gusts, flooding rain, and even a tornado.
The storms were developing along a cold front that was moving across theregion. The fact that the storms occurred during the night, providing peoplewith little warning, may have led to the high death and injury toll.
Not only did the storms produce damaging winds and a tornado, but heavy raincaused flooding that damaged many homes.
The front that produced the storms has moved on through, which means betterweather for cleanup.
