Two out of three Minnesotans think it is important to keep the Minnesota Vikings in the state, though only a third want a new team stadium funded with public and private money, according to a new poll.

The St. Cloud State Survey, polling 550 Minnesotans in late October and early November, said only about a third of the poll's respondents believed it was of little or no importance that the Vikings be kept in Minnesota. But the poll said support for a new stadium -- the Vikings have vowed not to play at the Metrodome in downtown MInneapolis beyond 2011 -- was "scattered", with one in four saying the Metrodome was fine.

One third of the poll's respondents want a new stadium to be privately funded.
