This is my first blog for the Star Tribune. I am excited to have the opportunity to write a little about some of the outdoor activities that I enjoy. I am hoping people find my posts interesting and entertaining. The focus of my blogs will generally be about fly fishing in our area and fly tying. There might be posts about other things from time to time, we will just have to wait and see.
Today is the Wisconsin fishing opener and I have spoken with many people who have been spending time getting their boats ready to hit a lake in Wisconsin, just like so many people are eagerly awaiting for the next weekend to get out on a Minnesota lake or river. As a fly fisherman I spend a lot of my time fishing in Wisconsin trying my best to match a hatch on one of the spring fed streams hoping to catch a wild brown or brook trout.
I have decided to pass on fishing today as I have other things planned, but I do plan to go up to the Brule River on Sunday to do some late spring steelheading while the season is still open. The fishing opener will probably take a few fisherman off the river giving more access to the best spots. It should be good weather for getting out on the river and I will post a report here following the outing. So please come back and check out my blog. Thanks for reading.
