Chart: Eventful weekend at Target Field

Jeter, Yankees make only visit of season

Shortstop Derek Jeter, retiring at the end of the season, will face the Twins for the last time when the New York Yankees open a four-game series beginning Thursday night at Target Field. Jeter is a .323 career hitter against the Twins in 128 games. His visit is just part of an eventful holiday weekend:

Thursday (7:10 p.m., FSN): Masahiro Tanaka (11-3) will make his Target Field debut. Fireworks will follow the game.

 

Friday (2:10 p.m., FSN): MLB will honor Yankees great Lou Gehrig on the 75th anniversary of his “Luckiest Man” speech. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Gehrig bobblehead.

Saturday (1:10 p.m., FSN): Jeter will be honored in a pregame ceremony. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Tom Brunansky 1985 All-Star bobblehead.

 

Sunday (1:10 p.m., FSN): This is the Twins’ last home game before the All-Star Game hits town on July 15. It precedes the announcement of the All-Star rosters at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
