Minnesota broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the 10th inning Saturday afternoon to defeat North Dakota State 4-1 in an NCAA softball regional game in St. Paul.
Sam Macken and Kaitlyn Richardson led off the 10th inning with double to give the Gophers a 2-1 lead and Erica Moore brought home the other two runs with a two-out single.
Sara Groenewgaen and Sara Moulton combined to throw a three-hitter for Minnesota, which will play for the title on Sunday.
Auburn and Green Bay, which both lost their first games on Friday, will play at 6:30 p.m. today in the double-elimination regional, with the winner playing NDSU at 9.
The Gophers will play at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with a second game following if Minnesota loses.
