If the Nobel Peace Prize committee wishes to restore its moral authority, this year's Peace Prize ought to go to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. He selflessly put his life and liberty on the line to let the world know the extent of the NSA's secret and unaccountable worldwide spying. This is especially dangerous since the United States is the most militarized nation on Earth, and historically the beacon of democracy and liberty for the rest of the world. Snowden has done more for world peace than any person since Nelson Mandela, and he has done so with perhaps what will prove to be as much personal cost.
Those who would argue to the contrary about Snowden are so identified with the United States and its military that they cannot see the better interests for peace on this planet.
