Kevin Martin didn't exactly say before tonight's game at Boston that he won't play but he sure sounded like it.

Martin played just 19 minutes in Sunday's victory at Memphis because of what he'd only specify as a hurting knee and didn't score for the first time since Valentine's Day 2012.

Asked before the game if it was his decision or Rick Adelman's decision, Martin said: "That's a knee decision. It doesn't feel good at all. It's something I've got to get right. I don't know. It's hard to tell. There's a lot of pain in the knee. It's a time I've got to get it right."

Adelman claimed 90 minutes before the game that he didn't know if Martin will play.

His option when he doesn't: Start Robbie Hummel or Luc Mbah a Moute at small forward and move Corey Brewer to Martin's guard spot or start Alexey Shved or JJ Barea at shooting guard against a smallish Celtics backcourt of Avery Bradley and Jordan Crawford and keep Brewer where he's at.

Martin said the knee has been bothering him since a game at Detroit last week. He said he didn't hit it or hurt it in a specific play.

"Just over time," he said. "Maybe old-man age."
